The BMW R75/5 was the top end of the re-engineered and improved model range introduced in 1969 to replace the old series 2 bikes which traced their history back to wartime sidecar machines.

One of our favourites it’s comfortable and surprisingly quick to ride, and just purrs along allowing you to enjoy the scenery. We think it also epitomizes the functional German approach – black paint, slab tank, white pinstripes, leather Krauser panniers (ours have been carefully repaired by Pepe, our local saddler) and the neat little ignition key in the headlamp. This is an un-restored original beautifully patinated machine manufactured in Spandau, Berlin in February 1971.  We’d like someone to buy it and keep it original rather than turn it into a cafe racer, but you decide.

We’ve renewed the carb internals, fitted a NOS speedo and new pistons and rings and a new seat cover during our ownership. Nothing else needed doing.
