Ducati M900 Il Monstro
Is it a classic or isn’t it? Well we think it is. This Ducati Monster is an original example of the M900 model first introduced in 1993 by Ducati designer Miguel Angel Galuzzi, the originator of the ‘naked bike’ style with exposed frame trellis and the 900cc V-twin engine with belt driven desmodronic valves and twin carburettors. The Ducati V-twin is unique in that the “V” is tilted forward so the front cylinder is nearly parallel to the ground, and often referred to as an “L-Twin” engine instead. Either usage is correct since a “V-twin” engine is not designated by a specific angle.
Hugh bought it in 1995 and has owned it ever since, at one point joyfully racking up 12 points for speeding on his license and earning a ban. Never restored, cosmetically it’s starting to show its age a little. Still a great bike to ride. And like a good Ducati Monster, it makes the most awesome racket.
